5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide

5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide

Day 1: The Love That Holds Us Together

Reading: Ephesians 3:14-19

Devotional:

Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3 is a reminder that God's love is not merely a doctrine to be studied but a reality to be experienced. Brother Rick reminded us that love must be communicated -- if it is not expressed, it is not felt. The same is true of God's love working through us in the church and in our families. Ask yourself today: am I expressing love in ways that others can actually receive? Love that stays hidden accomplishes nothing. Root yourself in the love of Christ and let it overflow outward toward those around you in tangible, visible ways.

Reflection: Who in your life needs to hear or see your love expressed today?

Day 2: Bearing One Another's Arms

Reading: Exodus 17:8-13; Galatians 6:1-2

Devotional:

When Moses grew weary, Aaron and Hur did not wait to be asked. They simply saw the need and stepped in. This is a picture of what the church is called to be -- a community of people who notice when someone's arms are falling and move without hesitation to hold them up. Brother Rick shared that 1,500 ministers leave the ministry every month. Behind that number are real people carrying real burdens. The same is true in your family and your congregation. Do not wait for someone to ask for help. Look around, see the need, and act.

Reflection: Who in your church or family is growing weary right now, and how can you support them this week?

Day 3: Unity, Trust, and the Bond of Peace

Reading: Ephesians 4:1-6; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Devotional:

Ephesians 4 calls believers to bear with one another in love and to make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit. Brother Rick pointed out that suspicion strangles relationships, while trust creates an atmosphere where God can work. This is true in marriage, in parenting, and in the local church. Distrust communicates that we do not believe the best about one another. When we extend trust, we invite others to rise to meet it. Consider where suspicion or criticism has taken root in your relationships and ask God to replace it with the kind of love that always hopes and always perseveres.

Reflection: Is there a relationship in your life where trust has eroded? What is one step you can take toward restoring it?

Day 4: The Power of Encouragement

Reading: Ephesians 4:29-32; 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Devotional:

Brother Rick described encouragement as a light switch -- it changes the surroundings and makes possibilities visible that darkness had hidden. Ephesians 4:29 instructs believers to speak only what builds others up according to their need. This is not flattery or empty praise. It is the deliberate, Spirit-led act of speaking life into another person. When we speak well of someone, their view of themselves can be transformed. When we speak well of someone in their absence, we are practicing support -- a gift that protects the dignity of others even when they cannot defend themselves. Both are acts of Christlike love.

Reflection: Think of your pastor, a family member, or a fellow church member. What specific word of encouragement can you offer them today?

Day 5: A Future Worth Hoping For

Reading: Ephesians 3:20-21; Romans 8:18; Revelation 21:3-4

Devotional:

The congregation sang of a coming day when there will be no sorrow, no pain, no burdens to bear. That hope is not wishful thinking -- it is a promise secured by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:20-21 reminds us that God is able to do far beyond what we can ask or imagine. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in your church, your family, and your heart right now. Whatever storm you are walking through, the story does not end there. Plant yourself deeply in the body of Christ, pray specifically for those around you, and keep your eyes fixed on what God has promised.

Reflection: In what area of your life do you need to trust that God is doing more than you can currently see? Bring that to Him in prayer today.
