Faith That Pleases God

Day 1: Faith That Acknowledges God

Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6; Hebrews 11:6

Devotional: Faith begins not with grand action but with a quiet, honest acknowledgment that God is speaking. Noah was warned about things he had never seen and could not fully comprehend, yet he stopped long enough to hear God's voice. Many of us stay busy, filling every moment with noise and activity, because slowing down means becoming accountable to what God is saying. Today, resist the urge to rush past His voice. Be still. Acknowledge Him in whatever situation you are facing. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.

Reflection: What area of your life have you been avoiding bringing before God? Set aside ten minutes today in silence and ask Him to speak.

Day 2: Faith That Takes God Seriously

Reading: Psalm 111:10; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Devotional: Noah was moved with godly fear when he heard the word of the Lord. That fear was not a cowering dread but a reverent, serious response to the reality that God means what He says. The wisest man who ever lived, Solomon, concluded that the entire purpose of human existence comes down to fearing God and keeping His commandments. We live in a culture that has largely lost the fear of God, treating His Word as optional and His warnings as negotiable. But God does not adjust His truth to match the times. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Take Him seriously today.

Reflection: Is there a command in Scripture you have been treating as a suggestion? Ask God to give you a renewed reverence for His Word and the courage to obey it fully.

Day 3: Faith That Agrees With God

Reading: Numbers 23:19; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23

Devotional: Noah did not argue with God's assessment of human sin. He did not soften God's judgment or negotiate the terms of salvation. He simply agreed that God was right. One of the most difficult acts of faith is agreeing with God about ourselves, acknowledging that we are sinners in need of grace, that His diagnosis of our condition is accurate, and that His remedy in Jesus Christ is the only sufficient answer. God is not a man that He should lie. He knows the future completely and speaks the truth perfectly. Agreeing with God is not defeat. It is the doorway to freedom.

Reflection: Are there areas where you have been arguing with what Scripture clearly says about sin, judgment, or your need for God? Surrender those arguments today and simply agree with Him.

Day 4: Faith That Acts

Reading: James 2:17-18; Hebrews 11:7

Devotional: Noah did not merely hear God's warning, and he did not merely agree with it. He picked up his tools and built an ark for 120 years. The decision to obey meant nothing until the first tree was cut down. James reminds us that faith without works is dead, not because our works earn salvation, but because genuine faith always produces visible action. A faith that stays safely inside our minds and never shapes our hands, our feet, our schedules, and our relationships is not the faith described in Scripture. God is not pleased by intentions. He is honored by obedience. What has He asked you to do that you have only decided but never started?

Reflection: Identify one specific action God has been calling you toward. Write it down, set a date, and take the first step this week.

Day 5: Faith That Saves and Testifies

Reading: Romans 10:9-13; Acts 16:31

Devotional: The ark that saved Noah also stood as a testimony to the world that God's warning was true. Every plank, every beam, every coat of pitch was a sermon preached without words. In the same way, when we call upon the name of Jesus and are saved, our lives become a living testimony that the gospel is real. Believers' baptism, faithful church attendance, sharing the gospel with a neighbor, and serving others are all acts of faith that say to a watching world, I believe God. The transaction of salvation happens when we move from knowing the gospel to calling upon Jesus. Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Reflection: Have you called upon Jesus for salvation, or have you only acknowledged and agreed without acting? If you are saved, how is your daily life testifying to the reality of your faith in a way others can see?
